About the Role
The Manager, Studio and Production Services is a key member of the Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team at Mount Royal University. This role is responsible for the leadership and day-to-day management of the Studio team, which includes design, video, photography, web and other creative services. The position ensures the effective coordination and delivery of marketing and communications projects.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Manager oversees the Studio team's workloads, allocates resources and supports the successful fulfillment of projects. The role ensures work is delivered on time, on budget and in alignment with institutional standards. It plays a critical role in enabling the team to produce high-quality, brand-aligned creative that reflects a diverse and vibrant campus.
The Manager works closely with internal stakeholders across faculties and departments, as well as external suppliers and service providers. This role requires strong leadership, sound judgment and a solid understanding of production processes, workflow coordination, procurement processes, contracts, financial management and operational effectiveness.
This is a Full-Time, Limited Term role, working 35 hours per week and ending December 11, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Team leadership and supervision
- Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary Studio team
- Manage team workloads and allocate resources to support timely project delivery
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback and annual reviews
- Provide guidance in resolving challenges and removing barriers
- Foster a collaborative, respectful and high-performing team environment
- Studio operations and project coordination
- Oversee coordination (including timelines) and execution of projects from intake to final delivery
- Monitor progress and adjust workflows to meet deadlines and changing priorities
- Maintain regular status reporting and communicate priorities
- Ensure all work meets brand standards, visual identity guidelines and quality expectations
- Vendor and contract management
- Build and maintain relationships with external printers, suppliers and freelancers
- Source vendors, obtain quotes and manage production budgets
- Engage freelance support during peak periods
- Review and maintain contracts for external service providers
- Ensure compliance with university purchasing, payment and contracting policies
- Strategic and operational support
- Contribute to select initiatives as a Marketing Strategist, as required
- Lead recurring institutional production projects
- Support continuous improvement of studio processes and workflows
Qualifications

Diploma or degree in design, marketing, communications or a related field, or equivalent experience

5 to 8 years of related experience, including:

Experience in a marketing, creative or production environment

Managing projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities

Coordinating print, digital and other production
-
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support and guide a multidisciplinary team

Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
-
High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy
-
Effective communication and problem-solving skills
-
Knowledge of production processes, procurement practices and vendor management
-
Proven ability to work collaboratively and build effective working relationships
-
Experience in post-secondary, public or non-profit environments is an asset
Salary: $98,502 - $135,930 per annum
