About the role
The Global Reinsurance team manages >1,000 reinsurance agreements, with >$700 billion in ceded risk and $2.5 billion of annual premiums. We are currently seeking a highly motivated Reinsurance Specialist to join our team.
The incumbent will be responsible for administering ceded business with moderate to complex issues. The prospects will have the opportunity to work with cross-disciplinary teams within Manulife.
Key responsibilities:
- Investigate, analyze, and process policy exceptions in the reinsurance administration system
- Responsible for the completeness, accuracy and reliability of premium, risk and claim information for assigned ceded business
- Own billing reconciliation and reinsurer payments
- Support small to medium projects and clean up initiatives, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time
- Respond to internal or external queries in a professional and timely manner
- Identify, resolve, or escalate unusual business trends
- Support audits by providing evidence and examples
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with various departments within the segment and across segments
- Data driven approach to in force management
- Identify and own process improvements including potential automations

Required Qualifications:

2-5 years' experience in insurance or other relevant industry

Strong understanding of insurance (policy lifecycle) and reinsurance principles, practices, and trends

Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a production-based environment

Strong analytical skills

Intermediate accounting knowledge

Strong technical skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Experience with IT tools or programs such as SQL, Python, Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI
-
Background or degree in finance, math, actuarial sciences or similar
Preferred Qualifications:
- Direct experience with ceded reinsurance administration
- Industry relevant courses and certifications such as LOMA
- Manulife specific product knowledge
- Experience with contract language and interpretation

Salary range is expected to be between
$50,700.00 CAD - $84,500.00 CAD
