Duration : 12 months, possibility of extension depending on funding
Start Date : January 1, 2026 or ASAP (at agreed upon time)
**Annual Stipend: ** $60,000/year plus extended health care benefits
Location: Calgary-based; virtual position to be considered for the right candidate
Job Description:
A full-time Postdoctoral Scholar (PDS) opportunity is available at the University of Calgary, Canada, to begin on or about January 1, 2026 under the supervision of Dr Emma Climie. This PDS will contribute to a variety of projects aimed at a gaining deeper insight into the strengths and experiences of individuals with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) across the lifespan, with a focus on girls/women.
There are multiple research avenues for PDS involvement, with potential opportunities in:
- Supporting the development and implementation of a large national study examining the strengths of girls/women with ADHD, including consideration of social-emotional mental health and well-being, diagnostic experiences, and life events
- Examining the strengths, stigmatization, and experiences of children & youth with ADHD and their families
- Exploring the strengths of emerging adults with ADHD across contexts
- Collaborating with partner organizations to carry out national research projects related to knowledge of ADHD, stigma, and knowledge translation
The PDS will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects with researchers from various faculties across campus (e.g., psychology, medicine, community health), as well as community organizations and institutions across the country. They will have access to existing data sets as well as ongoing data collection and will be encouraged to expand their own research in these areas through the development of complementary research projects. The PDS will be supported in the supervision of junior students, manuscript creation, sharing of research findings (e.g., conferences, community presentations), scholarship and grant applications, and career guidance. Teaching opportunities also exist, if of interest to the successful candidate, but are not a requirement of the position.
Qualifications:
Requirements include:
- PhD in a relevant social science or educational discipline (e.g., school, counselling, clinical, developmental, or health psychology or equivalent);
- Note: Applicants must have completed their degree within the last 5 years
- Expertise in clinical research related to ADHD, mental health, children/youth, lifespan development; please note that candidates with solely lab-science/genetic study backgrounds will not be considered.
- A strong background in quantitative data analysis, familiarity with qualitative data is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated productivity for peer-reviewed publications
- Interest in working collaboratively with national and local research partners, as well as supervision and mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students
