What this role is all about
The Manager, Financial Reporting plays a critical role in ensuring Beem’s
compliance with financial regulatory requirements, maintaining robust capital management practices, and overseeing the accounts payable function. This role leads the preparation and submission of key regulatory reports, manages payments and reconciliation processes, and drives strategic initiatives that enhance reporting infrastructure and governance.
This role is a Temporary 18 month position that is open to hybrid working
arrangements within British Columbia.
What you’ll do
Regulatory Reporting Leadership
- Lead the preparation and submission of regulatory financial reports (ie. QFSR, MFSR, and AFSR) and the Capital Adequacy Reporting (CAR) process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and in accordance with internal standards and BCFSA requirements.
- Perform detailed variance and reasonability analysis on regulatory reports.
Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of GL data and financial statements
to FSR and CAR reporting.
- Manage the review of other regulatory data submissions (ie. LAR, RMLR, CUDIC) to regulatory financial reports prior to filing for consistency and completeness.
- Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, ensuring timely implementation of new record-keeping and reporting requirements.
- Maintain and update policies, procedures, and systems in response to evolving regulatory and operational expectations.
Accounts Payable Operations Management
- Oversee invoice and business expense processing and approving payment remittances in adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Lead Account Payable related reconciliation processes and monitor for compliance to internal controls.
- Support and guide the Accounts Payable team to promote accuracy and timeliness of operations.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to streamline and optimize Accounts Payable workflows.
Strategic Projects and Initiatives
- Lead regulatory filing projects (ie. Capital Modernization), including stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and implementation of enhancements.
- Oversee Statistics Canada reporting, ensuring compliance with federal data submission standards and timelines.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline reporting processes and enhance data integrity.
- Maintain strong relationships with partner departments and external vendors to optimize accounts payable processing and accounting operations.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
What you’ll bring
- CPA designation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in regulatory reporting, financial accounting and consolidation.
- Strong understanding of BCFSA regulatory frameworks and capital adequacy principles is an asset.
- Experience with regulatory reporting for complex organizational structures including subsidiaries and joint ventures.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, ERP systems).
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation
Annual salary range: $92,200 - $115,200
