Role Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Accountant will provide accounting and bookkeeping for Live Entertainment operations, Food & Beverage and Retail operations. The Accountant will be responsible for various monthly journal entries, working papers and account reconciliations. Accounting for Live Entertainment concert event settlements will include shared responsibilities for “night of show” settlements and subsequent journal entries for events at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta.

Core Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for Live Entertainment event accounting for Rogers Place, Ice District and offsite Festivals

  • In coordination with Assistant Manager, Rogers Place and Director, Rogers Place, supports when needed, on site “night of show” settlements, liaising with promoters, artist representatives and internal operations team

  • Ensures all journal entries for event accounting settlements are completed, working papers are updated, and ticketing payment reconciliations are complete

  • Prepares monthly ticketing/banking journal entries including Ticketmaster settlement reports, month end banking fees & credits and bank account transfer entries

  • Responsible for monthly journal entries related to food & beverage operations and retail operations

  • Responsible for reconciliation of various bank accounts and working papers

  • Works with accounting coordinators to ensure accuracy of invoices received from third party food & beverage and retail operators

  • Responsible for corporate event accounting (catered functions, corporate meetings, galas) including pre-event analysis, accurate and timely billing, and post event reporting as required

  • Responsible for sponsorship affiliated food & beverage reporting

  • Submission of Edmonton Oilers food & beverage game reporting to the NHL

  • Supports marquee event accounting – i.e. World Juniors, Hlinka Gretzky Cup, etc.

  • Supports Food & Beverage and Retail accounting operations for Edmonton Oilers playoff operations

  • Supports applicable NHL Hockey Related Revenue (HRR) reporting as it relates to Food & Beverage and Retail operations for the Edmonton Oilers

  • Supports the annual Business Planning and Budget Process as required

  • Supports with annual financial statement audit, including preparation and review of audit working papers

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Degree required

  • Minimum 3 years in an accounting background or related field

  • Excellent reporting, communicating and analytical skills

  • Detail focused, strong business acumen and well versed in financial modeling and analysis

  • Strong understanding of Accounting Systems and integration opportunities

  • Experience with computerized accounting software and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
