About the role
The salary range for this position is CAD $25.26/Hr. - CAD $25.26/Hr.
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the position promotes a safe environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.
Reporting to the Leader, Distribution Services or Supervisor, Laundry & Linen this position provides laundry services by performing duties such as collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, weighing, and distributing laundry and/or linens. Performs alterations and repairs on garments and furnishings by operating a sewing machine.
Education
Grade 10 plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills And Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Able to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Ability to organize work.
Collects, weighs, sorts and records soiled linen and laundry. Delivers soiled laundry to laundry room.
Loads and unloads washers and dryers, selects wash cycles, sets temperature and switches machine on and off.
Folds, sorts, and irons dry laundry.
Transfers clean linen from clean linen carts to hospital carts according to determined quantities and quotas.
Distributes clean linen and laundry to user areas.
Perform alterations and repairs, on clothing and furnishings such as curtains and drapes by operating a sewing machine.
Prints clothing labels and attaches to personal laundry items.
Cleans and maintains related equipment and designated areas.
Checks machines regularly to ensure safe and effective functioning and notifies supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
Maintains linen and laundry supplies such as mops, tea towels, and clean-up rags for deliver to various areas, by requisitioning supplies, restocking, folding, and packing.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
