JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician provides essential maintenance services to all company buildings and equipment, addressing immediate operational and safety concerns to ensure facilities are accessible and maintained in a safe and effective manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Duties include, but not limited to, as follows:

General Maintenance:

  • Performing a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance activities, including carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing, to complete projects within established time frames.
  • Conducting routine, non-licensed inspections of facilities, including generators.
  • Performing repairs on racking as required by the warehouse.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensuring all building and facility health and safety obligations are effectively followed.
  • Confirming the safety and protection of employees by ensuring doorways are not blocked.
  • Coordinating licensed inspections as required.

Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Coordinating contractors and third-party partners for all company building repairs and maintenance.
  • Supporting other departments in their building requirements.
  • Responding in a timely manner to all ticket requests and employee maintenance concerns.

Preventative Maintenance:

  • Performing preventative and predictive maintenance on buildings and facilities.
  • Conducting all tasks and duties outlined in the Maintenance Duty Check List.

Teamwork and Compliance

  • Working well independently or as part of a team by maintaining clear communication with team members and other departments.
  • Operating confidently in a fast-paced environment, following all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. 
  • Maintain a safe, organized work area and report faulty equipment and safety concerns promptly.

Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, applicable legislation, regulations, statutes, and departmental policies/procedures/practices and operational guidelines.

Perform other related duties, as assigned, that are following job responsibilities and/or necessary departmental or corporate objectives.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

Prerequisites

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years’ experience working in a similar role
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office program experience
  • Certified Reach Truck or Forklift License an asset (will train/certify)
  • Elevated Work Platform certification an asset (will train/certify)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Effort: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

Physical Environment: Work is conducted in a standard manufacturing and warehouse environment with fluctuating temperatures depending on the season.

Physical strength and stamina required to handle physically demanding movements like pushing and pulling. Frequent reaching, bending and twisting are necessary to access items on racking or pallets. Lifting of 60 lb.boxes required occasionally.

Requires standing or walking for a long period of time. May involve operating forklifts, pallet jacks or other machinery, which requires coordination and attention to detail. 

Sensory Attention: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical skills and the ability to coordinate hand and eyes rapidly and accurately in using equipment.

Safety Protocol: Requires wearing steel-toed shoes or boots to prevent injuries.
