Established in 1978, SWCHC provides a wide range of health care services such as primary health care, health promotion, community development, mental health, and harm reduction. What the Program Entails
Reporting to the Manager of Children and Youth Services, the Casual Worker C&Y will facilitate community-based programs for children and youth ages newborn – 18yrs.
What You’ll Do
The Casual Worker Children & Youth Provide educational programming and support to help meet the needs of children, youth and their families using a capacity building and health promotion framework.

High School Diploma and/or post-secondary education

High Five Training an asset
-
Standard First Aid / CPR level C
Required Language
- Fluency in English is required.
- Ability to speak French an asset

Your Day-to-Day at a Glance
As our Early Childhood Educator your responsibilities are:
- Ensure all program safety measures are being met at all times
- Delivers programs that enhance cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of children and youth
- Maintains files as directed and daily attendance/stats for each client registered and participating in community based programs
- Provides updates and contacts parents when necessary
- Monitor and advise staff if purchasing of supplies and equipment for programming is needed
- Works closely with program staff, volunteers, and student placements
- Participates in establishing a positive social atmosphere and role models positive interactions and behaviour management including observing, demonstrating, reinforcing
- Other duties may include: diapering, preparing and serving nutritious snacks; ensuring participants are dressed appropriately for indoor and outdoor activities; room set up and cleaning.

Priority is given to individuals with unique needs, including single parent families, those who are financially insecure, new Canadians, and persons coping with various disabilities. SWCHC welcomes and supports individuals of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ages, and ethnicities.
SWCHC serves a large multicultural area in Ottawa's centre west, including Dalhousie, Hintonburg, Mechanicsville, and West Wellington, with a population of approximately 40,000 persons. Much of the community's population is made up of new immigrants to Canada, who face many struggles which for many include a lack of English language skills.
