The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in a heat-treating steel facility. This role requires expertise in industrial electrical systems, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance to ensure minimal downtime and optimal operational efficiency, while adhering to Ontario’s electrical and safety standards
Location:
Port Robinson, ON
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, machinery in an industrial setting, ensuring compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC) and applicable regulations
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems in line with industry best practices and safety standards
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance of electrical systems to prevent malfunctions and ensure the safe efficient operation of equipment
- Follow all electrical safety standards and regulations, including those set out by the OESC and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB).
- Ensure compliance with the OHSA and NFPA 70E
- Repair or replace faulty components, including circuit breakers, wiring, and electrical panels
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs in accordance with IMT protocols and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with the Maintenance and Production departments to troubleshoot and resolve issues
Requirements
- Completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship program registered with the Ontario College of Trades (or equivalent).
- Valid Red Seal Certificate – 309A
- 5 years experience as an electrician in an industrial setting
- Proficiency with electrical systems, including power distribution, PLCs, and automated systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Understanding of industrial equipment and preventative maintenance practices
- Knowledge and adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including lockout/tagout procedures and electrical safety standards
- Strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex electrical problems quickly and effectively
- Ability to collaborate with maintenance and other departments to ensure efficient, safe, and effective operations
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50lbs, work in confined spaces, and safely work at heights
