As the Senior Resiliency Engineer, you will design, implement, and continually improve reliability and resilience engineering initiatives. You will look after failure prevention, redundancy planning, response planning, and recovery strategies across critical linear assets, including siphons, trunks, and lift stations. Primary duties include:

  • Operationalize site-specific emergency response plans through proactive planning, cross-department collaboration, tabletop and field exercises, contracted services, and approved bypass plans.
  • Conduct on-site field management of internal field crews and contracted services for proactive condition assessment and reactive failure response and recovery activities.
  • Provide insights for after-action reports, maintenance program enhancements, and recommended improvements to design standards, guidelines, and construction specifications to mitigate risks to business continuity, public safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Engineering (with preference given to Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, and Energy disciplines) and at least 8 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work.   • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits, and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
  • Experience or training in Incident Command Structure is preferred.
  • The successful applicant will have a proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and non-technical teams, strong communication skills, and a proactive, reliable work ethic.

**Working Conditions:**During an emergency response, additional hours will be required outside of normal work hours.

Workstyle

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
