SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT AND WORKSITE TO BE DETERMINED BY THE PRINCIPAL Nechako Lakes School District gratefully acknowledges that we live, work, and play on the unceded, ancestral territories of fourteen First Nations representing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suwet'en peoples. The School District Nechako Lakes is situated on the traditional unceded territories of fourteen First Nations encompassing the Dakelh, Nedut'en and Wet'suweten peoples. The school district encompasses five municipalities, the Districts of Fort St James and Vanderhoof and the Villages of Fraser Lake, Burns Lake and Granisle. This large area served by our school district has a population of just under 40,000 residents in the beautiful north central BC.

We serve 3,000 students in our standard schools and approximately 900 FTE at EBUS Academy, one of the largest online schools in British Columbia. Qualifications (Online Education Focus)

  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary).
  • A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in The Ministry of Education and Childcare.
  • Ability to assist students as needed in a variety of curriculum areas at junior grade levels.
  • Experience in online curriculum development and delivery in accordance with the standards for K-12 online learning in B.C.
  • Expertise in the use of educational technologies for teaching and learning, especially course management software and both synchronous and asynchronous online delivery software.
  • Able to utilize technology to deliver components of online programs designed for online delivery via learning management systems (Moodle and Brightspace).
  • Able to cope with ragged entry and exit for students by providing flexible learning opportunities in the online courses delivered.
  • A high degree of technological literacy demonstrating an interest in technology integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using online communication platforms (audio, video, email, phone, chat) with parents, students and staff.

Primary and Secondary Education

EBUS is an innovative distance education program comprising computer based training, computer mediated education, internet access and access to on-line teachers via email and voice. The program adheres to the British Columbia curriculum and is eligible for certification and credit by the Ministry of Education. Current enrollment is over 750 students in grades ranging from kindergarten to 11. This program overcomes time, organizational and geographic barriers to learning.
