Maplesoft Group is currently seeking an IT Security Engineer (Level 3) for our Federal Government client. This is a remote role but must be performed from within Canada. Candidate MUST have a valid Secret Security Clearance already in place for consideration.

Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

The Content Use Case Developer (IT Security Engineer Level 3) will perform:

• Threat Detection & Use Case Development

• Define detection use cases using threat intelligence and frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK.

• Translate requirements into detection rules and alerts.

• Log Source Integration & Validation

• Identify and validate log sources (e.g., system, network, EDR).

• Normalize and parse logs for actionable insights.

• Content Tuning & Optimization

• Refine detection rules to reduce false positives.

• Optimize logic based on real-time events.

• Testing & Validation

• Simulate attacks to test detection logic.

• Document test results and limitations.

• Monitoring & Reporting

• Track rule performance and alert trends.

• Map detection rules to threat frameworks.

• Collaboration & Maintenance

• Work with SOC analysts and managers.

• Maintain documentation and stay updated on threat trends.

Expected Deliverables

• Developed use cases and detection rules.

• Identified log sources.

• Testing documentation.

• Performance reports.

• Collaboration and integration documentation.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel).

• Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, NIST, and other frameworks.

• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.

• Proven ability to work remotely and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Experience in government or enterprise environments.
