Since opening in 2005, we strive to ensure our residents feel as “at home” as possible while they are under our care; and the steadfast, day-to-day efforts of our Hospitality and Facilities team makes this possible.
Working within the mission, vision and core values of Wing Kei, the Facilities Coordinator is responsible for administering the day-to-day general maintenance at Wing Kei and providing technical knowledge. This position assists in ensuring that Wing Kei is building is maintained in a safe and orderly operating condition, in accordance with the government policies and standards, the organization’s vision, strategic direction and Person/Family Centred Care approach.
THE ROLE
Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for trouble shooting, diagnostic assessment, planning, prioritizing, and providing guidance and supervision to the Maintenance staff in carrying out the work of facility maintenance.
- Provides leadership to the Maintenance Team in performing preventative maintenance programs in accordance with relevant government legislations, codes, regulations & standards and Wing Kei's policies and procedures.
- Assists in planning and coordinating as well as providing supervision to the Maintenance Team in conducting periodic building inspections and other visual/physical checks according to established schedules to minimize/eliminate hazardous conditions.
- Coordinates and provides mentorship to Maintenance Team in performing maintenance repair tasks to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Ensures that outstanding tasks shown in the Maintenance Care system are completed and are appropriately prioritized.
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing emergency response plans and duties.
- Coordinates with purchasing to source and order adequate maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Trains and provides continuing guidance to Maintenance Team for proper handling of tools and equipment.
- Prepares and maintains maintenance records in compliance with relevant government legislations, codes, regulations & standards and Wing Kei's policies and procedures.
- Schedules third-party contractors accordingly and acts as the on-site contact to ensure that their tasks are completed.
- Communicates and collaborates with interdepartmental groups to assist and enable organizational operations and effective service.
THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL SUCCEED
- College level education in building system maintenance or equivalent
- Journeyman certificates as Plumber, Gas-Fitter, Electrician preferred
- Extensive working knowledge and expertise in HVAC system and thermostatic control an asset
- Minimum 5 years experience in building system construction and/or maintenance, including experience in supervision, coordinating multiple trades
- Knowledge of legislations and relevant procedures regarding building standards, fire and safety, preventive maintenance
- Strong ability in interpreting construction drawings an asset
- Computer literacy required
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English, knowledge of Chinese is a definite asset
