Job Description

We are looking for a Funpack Artist to join our team who shares our vision and will bring with them a passion for creating high quality content.
Role: Funpack Artist
Reporting to: Art Director
Purpose: Why you’re here at Brown Bag Films

To produce Visual Development drawings of Characters, Props and Environments, in correct and approved style of the animated production
Delivery: What you produce

Character and Prop Designs for the production, designed in correct style and ready for storyboard artists and designers to utilize.

Environment Designs for the production, designed in correct style and ready for storyboard artists and layout department to utilize.
Measurements: How we measure it

Meets creative requirements, within stylistic guidelines and schedule

Art Director, Director and Client approvals
Key Responsibilities
What you are regularly responsible for doing:
Creating Funpack/Visual Development Character, Prop and Environment drawings, using scripts and direction from Art Director / Director.

Working closely with oversight from Art Director / Director, to help further develop characters and props in the style developed for the property; providing costumes, expressions, turn arounds and various poses.

Working closely with oversight from a Art Director / Director, to help further develop Environments in the style developed for the property; providing accurate location reference in that style.

Creating colour styling for character and props, mindful of color keys or reference provided by Art Director / Director.

Creating colour styling for environments /locations, mindful of color keys or reference
provided by Art Director / Director, as required.

Creating character and prop designs, using agreed upon programs and ready for storyboard artists and production designers.

Creating Environments/Locations, using agreed upon programs and ready for storyboard artists and layout department.
Key Requirements
Things that help you do your job (what is essential and what is desirable)
Knowledge:
-
Strong knowledge in art and design with a focus on Animation.
-
Strong artistic sensibility, centered on creating characters, props and locations for animated productions.
-
Ability to create expressions, poses and turnarounds of characters and props including knowledge of mouth charts and hand charts for characters.
-
Ability to create Environments and Locations for animated productions using scripts and
direction from Art Director and or Director.
-
Strong knowledge of colour and colour styling.
-
Familiarity with the 2D pipeline.
-
Knowledge of Photoshop.
Experience:
-
Character and prop visual development for an animated TV Series or Feature.
-
Environment /Location visual development for an animated TV Series or Feature
Technical Skills:
-
Drawing within an animation environment.
-
Expert in Photoshop.
-
Other drawing programs such as Toon Boom Harmony (desirable).
