A dynamic, visionary leader is sought who will lead the Mike Petryk School of Dentistry within the FoMD and the College of Health Sciences, advancing excellence in education, research, and community-engaged clinical training in oral health.

Within the College of Health Sciences, the FoMD at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta) is internationally recognized as a top-five health sciences faculty in Canada and top-75 worldwide. As Chair, you will provide strategic leadership for the Mike Petryk School of Dentistry across training programs (dentistry, dental hygiene, dental assisting, and graduate studies), research (biomedical, clinical, health services delivery, and population health), and care delivery in our teaching clinics.

  • Articulate and deliver a clear, student- and community-centred vision for education and research;
  • Lead with inclusion and integrity, inspiring excellence and collaboration across disciplines, programs, and sites;
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with diverse learners, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners;
  • Foster innovation to meet the evolving needs of learners, faculty, staff, patients, and communities;
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage a large, complex academic-clinical enterprise that integrates education, research, and clinical care.

Applicants will hold degrees demonstrating expertise in oral health (e.g., DDS, PhD, or equivalent). The successful candidate will receive a tenured appointment; salary will be commensurate with education, experience, and scholarly contributions. Where appropriate, time may be allocated to private practice.

Interested candidates should submit the following in one file:

  • An equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) statement describing past contributions and resulting impact in academic, professional, and/or community settings (maximum 1 page);
  • A curriculum vitae.

To reduce unconscious bias, please remove identifying information (e.g., name, age, gender identity, education, work history) from the leadership philosophy, collaboration and EDI statements to support blinded review by the Search and Recommendation Committee. Your CV should remain complete and unredacted.
