Position Overview
We're looking for a proactive and hands-on HR Generalist to support our growing operations across Western Canada. From offices in Sherwood Park, Calgary, and Regina, to our mechanic shops in Edmonton and Calgary, and bulk terminal sites in Grande Prairie and Carseland, you'll be the go-to HR partner for leaders and employees alike.

In this key role, you'll own a wide range of HR functions-employee relations, performance management, benefits, workers' compensation, policy interpretation, and compliance-ensuring consistent, high-quality support across our dynamic, multi-location organization. Working closely with operations and corporate teams, you'll be a trusted advisor who helps managers solve problems, strengthen culture, and drive engagement.

What You'll Do

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Act as the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns, resolving issues quickly and professionally.

  • Advise managers on employee relations, performance improvement plans, and policy compliance.

  • Conduct workplace investigations and recommend fair, well-documented outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, the Canada Labour Code, and provincial legislation.

Performance & Development

  • Partner with managers on performance reviews and development plans.

  • Coach leaders on effective feedback and progressive discipline.

  • Help identify and resolve organizational issues impacting engagement and retention.

Benefits & Leave Management

  • Administer health, dental, life, RRSP, and other employee benefits programs.

  • Act as liaison between employees and benefit providers, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

  • Manage workers' compensation claims, modified work programs, and leaves of absence.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Support the recruitment team activities for union and non-union roles.

  • Facilitate onboarding and orientations to set new hires up for success.

  • Contribute to improving recruitment and retention strategies.

HR Data & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate HRIS records and confidential employee files.

  • Prepare reports on turnover, absenteeism, compliance, and workforce analytics.

  • Support audits and compliance requirements.

Engagement & Projects

  • Help plan company events, engagement initiatives, and recognition programs.

  • Provide HR support during organizational changes or special projects.

  • Travel occasionally to terminals and field sites to stay connected with teams.

What You Bring

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 3-5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience, ideally in transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or other operational settings.

  • Strong knowledge of the Canada Labour Code and relevant provincial legislation.

  • Hands-on experience managing workers' compensation, benefits, and complex employee relations.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high integrity and discretion.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint); HRIS experience (Dayforce, ADP, BambooHR) an asset.

  • CHRP or CHRL designation (or working toward it) preferred.

Why Join Us?
This is your opportunity to shape HR practices and make a tangible impact across multiple locations in a fast-moving industry.
