Senior Farm & Agribusiness Underwriter (Remote – Canada)
Our client is building one of Canada’s first digital-first agricultural insurance platforms, and they’re looking for a Senior Agricultural Underwriter who wants to influence underwriting strategy, product development, and how modern ag insurance is delivered. This role is fully remote anywhere in Canada and offers the chance to work with a collaborative leadership team that values expertise, autonomy, and clear decision-making.
The Senior Agricultural Underwriter will assess a broad range of farm and agribusiness risks, partner closely with brokers, and support internal teams as the company expands its digital capabilities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys complex farm accounts, independent decision-making, and contributing to new product development.
Key Responsibilities: Underwrite agricultural risks including farms, crop, livestock, agribusiness, equipment, and specialty operations Set coverage, pricing, and terms for accounts ranging from small farm policies to six?figure premium risks Apply regional agricultural rating knowledge across AB, SK, MB, and ON Negotiate effectively with brokers and communicate product advantages clearly Monitor agricultural trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risk factors Support product planning, requirements gathering, documentation, and testing Collaborate with sales, technology, finance, compliance, and other internal teams Manage workload independently in a fully remote environment What You Bring: 5+ years of senior-level agricultural underwriting experience CIP designation (FCIP completed or in progress preferred) Strong analytical and negotiation skills Experience underwriting mid?market and large farm accounts Ability to interpret policy wordings and apply underwriting guidelines Comfortable working remotely with minimal oversight A direct, analytical communication style suited to a high-performing team Compensation & Benefits: Salary range discussed: $80,000 – $85,000, depending on experience Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered Comprehensive benefits package Fully remote work across Canada Three weeks’ vacation to start (negotiable for the right person) Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
