CTL Operator (Cut-to-Length Operator)

Position Summary
The CTL Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring the Cut-to-Length line to produce flat sheets from coil material according to customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment to ensure consistent quality and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Machine OperationProduction
- Set up, operate, and monitor the Cut-to-Length line, including decoiler, leveling, measuring, and shearing equipment.
- Read and interpret production orders, work instructions, and customer specifications.
- Adjust machine settings to achieve precise dimensions, tolerances, and flatness requirements.
- Conduct changeovers efficiently when switching between material types, thicknesses, and lengths.
Quality Control
- Inspect material for surface defects, flatness, and correct dimensions during production runs.
- Perform first-piece inspections and document results.
- Ensure product meets company quality standards and customer requirements.
SafetyMaintenance
- Follow all workplace safety procedures, lockout/tagout rules, and PPE requirements.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and perform basic maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments.
- Report equipment issues promptly to maintenance or supervision.
DocumentationCommunication
- Complete production reports, including coil usage, scrap tracking, and output quantities.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and quality personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area to support 5S or lean manufacturing practices.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong decision makingproblem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to lift comfortably up to 50 lbs.
Requirements:
- Must be reliable and punctual
- Applicants must have steel toe boots
- Have a valid forklift license (Preferred)
- Able to read orders and complete basic paperwork
- These are also relevant to the CTL Operator position.
