Job Description
As a Junior Buyer, you will support a Category Manager with the purchasing and line management of your designated portfolio. You will work to maximize sales and profit of the product category.
The position includes coordination with key teams and working on several projects at a time, including retail pricing management, cost negotiations, inventory management, sales forecasting, and marketing content.
You will utilize data to drive decisions and ensure adherence to product ordering calendars and timelines.
This role is required to work onsite in our corporate office located in Coquitlam.
Product Category Management, which includes but is not limited to:
- Be the expert for your portfolio through understanding market trends, competitor analysis, and consumer needs
- Assist in the management of the product line assortment, forecast sales mix and create pricing strategy under the direction of a Category Manager
- Maximize profitability and sales aligned with your financial targets
- Identify growth and savings opportunities
- Manage large data sets to support decision-making, using Power BI tools and Excel
- Manage demand and promotional planning to ensure an optimal inventory level
- Maintain price and product spec accuracy in our systems
- Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure your category success (including planning, marketing, e-commerce, and store operations)
Sales and Marketing Management: which includes but is not limited to:
- Work with Marketing team for all campaigns, ensuring optimal representation of your product portfolio in all executions
- Select the best products for each campaign and determine the optimal sales price
- Evaluate and optimize campaigns based on performance results
- Work with the Visual Merchandising team to ensure best display in-store to attract, engage consumers and improve customers’ experience

What do you bring to the role?
- 2-5 years of experience in retail buying or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
- Excel skills and database knowledge with the ability to create reports and analyze statistics (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, Formulas, etc.)
- Detail-oriented and organized, with strong analytical skills and an efficient work ethic
- A self-motivated individual with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Excellent teamwork, team building, and project coordination skills
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with key internal and external business partners
- Adaptable and able to work in an environment with conflicting and changing priorities
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills
- Advanced user of MS Office
- Resourceful and well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and time management skills
Compensation: Generally, the hiring range for this position is $48,000 to $55,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, internal and market equity.
