Agriculture is a major contributor to the Saskatchewan economy. In 2024, Saskatchewan's agriculture and food exports totaled $18.5 billion, and the province is the world’s largest exporter of canola seed, lentils, dried peas and durum wheat. Our team helps educate local and international audiences on why to buy Saskatchewan agrifood products, informs producers about the ministry’s programs, services and events, and educates the general public about the province’s agriculture sector.

In this position, you will work with a portfolio of branch clients to develop, implement and evaluate communications strategies and tactics that support the ministry's strategic goals. You'll work on a variety of deliverables including speeches, news release, key messages, web content, articles, social media posts, publications, etc.

Core competencies include:

  • Organize and prioritize a high volume of projects with competing deadlines to consistently produce high-quality work; and
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with ministry staff, clients and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be a strong writer who is proactive, organized, diplomatic and flexible in order to respond quickly and positively in a busy work environment. Familiarity with the agricultural industry is considered an asset, as is experience in the Adobe Design Suite.

Typically, the knowledge for this position would be obtained through a post-secondary education in Journalism, Communications, Digital Communications, Marketing, English, Public Relations (or a related field), as well as related experience. Experience in media relations is an asset.
