Job Description
BKOM Studios is looking for a talented and passionate Lighting Artist to join our team. As a Lighting Artist, you will be responsible for creating immersive and visually stunning environments for our games. You will work closely with the art and design teams to bring the game's vision to life through your expertise in lighting and rendering.
- Design, create and implement lighting for game environments and cinematics;
- Collaborate with art direction, level artists, game designers and technical artists to define the mood and atmosphere of each scene;
- Master real-time lighting tools and techniques, including the creation and use of lightmaps, lightprobes and post-processing effects;
- Optimize lighting to maintain smooth performance while preserving visual quality on all target platforms (PC, Consoles, Mobile);
- Work closely with developers to solve lighting and rendering challenges to push the visual limits of the game;
- Actively participate in reviews and iterations to ensure lighting quality and consistency;
- Stay informed of the latest trends and technologies in lighting and rendering in the video game industry.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience as a 3D artist, specializing in lighting in a video game production environment;
- Proficiency in game engines (Unreal Engine);
- Proficiency in 3D creation software (Maya/Blender, Zbrush, Substance Painter);
- Creative and adaptable to different types of games and graphic styles (cartoon, realistic, illustration, pixel, etc.);
- Solid understanding of light, shadow, color, composition and visual atmosphere;
- Mastery of dynamic and static lighting techniques and notions of PBR rendering;
- Mastery of post-processing techniques (ambient occlusion, bloom, volumetric effects, etc.);
- Familiarity with technical constraints related to lighting on various platforms (PC, consoles, mobile);
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment;
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
- Passion for video games and a desire to create exceptional visual experiences;
- Demonstrate autonomy, initiative and good organizational skills;
- Communicate clearly and concisely and be able to popularize concepts and ideas;
- Able to estimate work time, manage priorities and meet deadlines.
Additional assets
- Knowledge of pre-calculated image rendering engines such as Mantra (Houdini), Arnold, Cycles(Blender) or others;
- Experience in photography or cinematography;
- Knowledge of the Substance Designer tool;
- Shader construction skills.
