Job Summary

As directed by the Pharmacy Manager, this position is responsible for assessing the quality of patient compliance packs, maintaining, and filing all pharmacy documentation including but not limited to narcotic record keeping, conducting narcotic cycle counts and inventory counts, receiving incoming inventory and packing and shipping of pharmacy orders. In addition, the pharmacy clerk will perform routine support functions for the Central Fill Pharmacy. This position requires knowledge of pharmacy operations and computer systems, customer service practices and the ability to independently perform a full range of clerical/administrative support functions in an accurate and timely manner.

Section A: Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Examines quality of product and materials.
  • Documents all information required for Quality Control purposes and investigations.
  • Sort drug and prescription orders to ensure delivery to proper locations.
  • Prepare shipping and invoicing documents in addition to maintaining and filing pharmacy documentation
  • Conducting investigations to identify the root cause of deviations and identifying solutions to prevent recurrences
  • Contacting pharmacies by phone or email to coordinate pharmacy order deliveries to ensure continuity of patient care
  • Packing compliance packs or medication orders in totes and securely sealing totes to ensure patient information is protected
  • Assists with inventory control which includes ordering, maintaining, and organizing appropriate inventory and packaging supplies to support dispensing activities.
  • Performs receiving and stocking of incoming inventory and supplies.
  • Conducts inventory audit counts, expiries
  • Assists with orientation of newly hired pharmacy personnel.
  • Assists the pharmacists and registered technicians, as needed, to assure productivity and operational efficiencies. Maintains effective communication and working relationship with clients at all levels of the organization and business contacts.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings as required.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as required.

Section B: General Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Works with the central fill pharmacy staff to ensure client-centered; safety-driven services.
  • Participates in quality, self-review activities to improve personal performance and to identify personal and professional developmental requirements.
  • Adheres to quality, operational and productivity standards.
  • Adheres to company policies, shared principles, and quality management guidelines.
  • Demonstrates and promotes compliance with all program specific performance metrics.
  • Participates in continuing education sessions as required.

Section C – Requirements

  • A minimum High school diploma or GED.
  • Clear CPIC (Canadian Police Information Center) check.
  • Experience in a pharmacy environment.
  • Consistently acts in a professional manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to set priorities and creatively solve problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in working effectively and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Good understanding of MS software (Outlook, Word, PPT & Excel)
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds independently and greater weights in a team-lift environment, Physical requirements include: lifting, carrying, bending, stretching, and standing for long periods of time
  • Strong focus of Customer Service and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding on regulatory issues, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $18.46 - $30.56
