Work environment

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in North Bay, Ontario.

A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Occupational Certification Option 1:

▶ Possession of an Ontario Provincial Ministry of Environment (MOE) Class 2 Water Distribution and Supply certificate AND Possession of a valid Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Petroleum Mechanic 3 (PM3) certification.

OR

Option 2 ▶ Possession of a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Water Fuel and Environmental Technician (WFE) Development Phase 2 qualification, or equivalent.

Note: Candidates with equivalent qualifications from other Canadian provinces are welcome to apply. Please provide detailed information about your credentials in your application. While candidates must be certified or authorized to work in Ontario prior to appointment, we will assess the possibility of transferring your qualifications to meet Ontario standards.

Asset Qualifications ▶ Experience working with Federal Storage Tank regulations.

▶ Experience operation and maintaining wastewater collection systems.

▶ Experience in the handling of Chemicals and Hazardous Materials.

▶ Experience Supervising Others. ▶ Possession of a Pool Operator Certification.

▶ Successful completion of spill response training.

▶ Possession of a Provincial MOE Class 1 or 2 Wastewater Collection certificate.

▶ First Aid Certification

▶ Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training

▶ Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMS) Training

▶ Aerial Lift Equipment Training

▶ Confined Space Entry Training

▶ Large Spill Training

Operational Requirements One or more of the following operational requirements may be required, depending on the position being staffed. ▶ Willing and able to work overtime including weekends.

▶ Willing and able to be on a call-in list and asked to respond after hours within one hour of being called in.

▶ Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment used in a construction/maintenance environment.

▶ Work may include but not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, and crouching, sitting, color determination, speaking and listening, and working in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.

▶ Willing and able to lift and carry heavy equipment in small, cramped locations.

Conditions of employment

▶ Reliability Status Security Clearance

▶ Option 1: Possess and maintain a Provincial Ministry of Environment (MOE) Class 2 Water Distribution and Supply certificate AND Possess and maintain a valid Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Petroleum Mechanic 3 (PM3) certification, or equivalent.

▶ OR Option 2: Possess a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Water Fuel and Environmental Technician (WFE) Development Phase 2 qualification, or equivalent.

▶ Possess and maintain a class G or class 5 provincial or territorial driver’s license.

▶ An acceptable driver’s abstract provided within 30 days of request, dated no earlier than 30 days prior to the request.

▶ Willing and able to obtain and maintain a Department of National Defence driver’s license (DND 404).

▶ Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.
