Weekday Scheduling and Planning for a Manufacturing Plant

Job Description

Reporting to the plant manager, the production planner is an integral part of the label manufacturing process.  The planner is responsible for ensuring that, when orders arrive at the site, the materials needed to produce the finished product are available.  The planner also coordinates orders so that all production lines run smoothly, with as little downtime as possible.

Responsibilities and Tasks

·         Manage order processing workflows for production.

·         Plan and schedule all production orders to meet commitments.

·        Possess strong logical reasoning skills.

·        Assist with inventory tasks as needed to fulfill received orders.

·        Help maintain material inventory levels at or below agreed-upon targets.

·        Work closely with production to optimize efficiency.

·        Continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or service.

·        Maintain strong collaborative relationships with all departments.

·        Provide reports and data analyses as needed.

·        Perform other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

·         Must possess a positive and proactive attitude, as well as a keen eye for detail.

·        Self-reliant and independent, requiring very little supervision

·        Strong professional ethics

·        MUST have knowledge and skills in using computer software in general

·        Highly organized and possess excellent communication skills.

·        Strong analytical skills.

·        Problem-solving ability.

Experience

1. Previous experience in production planning is a plus
2. Practical knowledge of computer software features—Excel is an example of a useful skill
3. Training provided to the successful candidate
