This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office at a minimum 2 - 3 days per week - subject to change at any time.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Development Lead to lead cross-geography teams delivering Java-based microservices remediation, server upgrades, and technology currency initiatives within a banking environment. This role combines strong technical oversight with problem solving and stakeholder communication

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Oversee development and refactoring / remediating of software currency issues across multiple microservices and application servers
• Manage the technical aspects of multiple parallel software upgrades, align dependencies, solve compatibility issues and bring creative solutions when stuck
• Identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, scalability and performance of workloads as necessary
• Collaborate with delivery managers and client partners to manage technical scope and expectations

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

• Lead developer/tech lead with experience in the following technologies – Java 17/21, Spring boot 3.x/4.0, REST APIs, Microservice architectures, Confluent Kafka, GCP Pub/Sub, IBM Message Queues, RDBMS preferably SQL Server, Cloud Foundry, GKE or other Kubernetes-based platforms, Gradle 8.x
• Experience with application development/deployments as well as broad general knowledge of servers and server software
• Efficient leader who uses experience to remove blockers and provide quick/accurate guidance to the team
• Flexible to extend help/extra hours during crunch times or critical deadlines.
• Openness to be cross functional when needed
• Self starter, quick learner, helps new team members scale up
• Experience communicating with technical as well as non-technical teams in an enterprise setting
• CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
