This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

Who we are looking for

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for preparing a variety of financial statements and reports, budget controls, and other means of financial reporting to support program areas. In this challenging and rewarding position, you will conduct research, analysis, and interpretation of financial activities to detect discrepancies, potential implications, and risks, and identify solutions to mitigate or correct, as required; support the Finance Managers in preparing departmental budget submissions, and provide support, training, and advice to program area staff on all financial activities.

Success in this position will require a unique mix of experience, leadership qualities and a commitment to excellence in all aspects of the role.

Essential qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

Essential Qualifications

  • Coursework in accounting and/or financial management.
  • Considerable experience in financial analysis, forecasting, reporting, and providing options and recommendations to management and decision-makers.
  • Considerable experience researching, analyzing and interpreting legislation and/or policies and procedures to make decisions and provide advice and recommendations.
  • Considerable experience using financial systems and Microsoft applications including advanced Excel. (Please indicate specific systems you have utilized).
  • Experience in preparing and monitoring contracts and contribution agreements in a government environment would be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.
