Position Summary
The successful candidate will be joining a young, vibrant and progressive Department of Surgery to provide collaborative plastic surgical care at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). There is a high volume of general plastic surgery, including hand, breast and soft tissue surgery, as well as peripheral nerve surgery. Oncologic care including melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers is an integral part of this practice. OSMH works in close collaboration with the Regional Cancer Centre. In addition, general soft tissue reconstruction and surgical aspects of wound care are required. Opportunities are available for medical student and resident teaching.
On-Call:
§ On-call responsibilities include OSMH. Current on-call model is local coverage shared with one additional surgeon. Actively pursuing transition to a regional coverage model that would include approximately seven surgeons.
In-Patient:
§ Shared availability for consultation and management of soft tissue wounds and infections as well as other plastic surgery appropriate referrals.
Out-Patient Clinic/Main Operating Room:
§ Resources will be available at OSMH for hand clinic with OT presence, minor procedures clinic and main operating room.
Administrative and Quality:
§ Participation in strategic planning and program development of surgical services.
§ Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities related to surgical care.
§ Participation in hospital committees pertaining to medical practice and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws.
Utilization:
Utilization of Emergency room and other resources in an efficient/optimized manner.
REMUNERATION:
§ Fee for Service
§ HOCC for on-call
OFFICE:
§ Must maintain community office practice for consultations and follow up of patients.
Qualifications
Education:
§ College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position.
§ Fellowship in Plastic Surgery recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
