We are currently accepting applications for the position of Coordinator of Learning & Development. This position will be working from the Administrative Centre in Mistissini, and reports to the Director of Human Resources.

The Cree School Board is looking for candidates who:

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline

  • Have experience assessing and implementing learning and development initiatives

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

The Coordinator of Learning & Development (L&D) is responsible for researching, developing, coordinating, planning, supervising, and evaluating strategies, policies, programs, and activities related to Learning & Development and Performance Management in support of the Cree School Board (CSB) mission, vision, and goals.

The Coordinator of Learning & Development leads by example, fosters a spirit of teamwork, engages employees, and facilitates a workplace culture in keeping with CSB organizational values.

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

Develop and implement the overall strategy for Learning & Development and Waawiichihiitutaau (performance management), ensuring alignment with the CSB Strategic Action Plan (SAP) and Human Resources departmental priorities.

Oversee all L&D programs, initiatives, and activities - including onboarding, the Continuous Learning Journey (CLJ), professional improvement requests, the Waawiichihiitutaau Journey, and more.

Partner and communicate with employees, Managers, and external consultants (e.g., CICR, Cree Elders) to identify development needs, design solutions, and ensure quality, consistency, and cultural relevance in all programs.

Assist and communicate with Managers and their supervisors through the yearly phases of the Waawiichihiitutaau cycle to ensure timely and effective completion of performance reviews and entries into the Portal (PMP software).

Develop, implement, and evaluate projects and project plans.

Co-develop or facilitate sessions, as needed.

Develop customized in-house training programs, upon request.

Provide regular updates to the HR Director and Senior Management, and maintain ongoing communication and follow-ups with project stakeholders.

Delegate work to L&D team members (HR Advisor and Admin Officer) and provide support and coverage for team members during absences.

Participate in HR cross-team meetings and contribute to broader HR initiatives and collaboration.

Participate in HR-related committee meetings and working groups.

Collaborate with the budget planning and monitoring of L&D resources, programs, and activities.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or any other relevant field of study (e.g. Organizational Development) certifying a minimum three-year university program.

OR

Hold a Senior Executive or Senior Staff position, excluding a manager position, in a board.

AND

Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in human resources with at least three (3) years in Learning & Development.

OTHER ASSETS

Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

Experience in a school board or in public institutions is an asset.

Experience in facilitation and collaboration with internal stakeholders is an asset.

Experience designing in-house training programs is an asset.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Fluency in English and French language is required.

Knowledge of the Cree language is an asset.

OTHER WORKING CONDITIONS

Travel is required.
