COWI is seeking an experienced Senior Site Representative and Construction Engineer to join our established North Vancouver office. In this role you will work closely and collaboratively with our team of engineering experts and project leaders to lead and oversee construction monitoring efforts on some of North America's most significant infrastructure projects. Further, you will bring a deep understanding of construction techniques and procedures, as well as client reporting and interfacing skills, to manage day-to-day client communications and resolve construction items in a timely manner.
Apart from being located on a construction site as the EoR’s site representative, you will plan and develop engineering inputs such as inspections, evaluations, rehabilitations, engineering services during construction and constructability of designs of structures. In addition, you will be responsible for identifying and defining the scope of construction problems for investigation, developing concepts and approaches for resolution, and making key technical decisions. You will not only be given opportunities to grow your level of responsibility but also your skills.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Liaise with the Owner on site, keeping them informed of construction progress, issues and inputs.
- Liaise with the Contractor on site to communicate and coordinate inspections, identify non-conformances, and coordinate engineering inputs from COWI.
- Perform EoR inspections on site to critically review construction progress and ensure as-built configurations match design intent.
- Find practical solutions for issues occurring during construction, and coordinate engineering input when needed.
- Supervise and coordinate teams of engineers and technicians, including reviewing the work produced and coaching staff to enhance their professional skills.
- Perform structural analysis, design, and evaluation and be responsible for the preparation of calculations, drawings, work plans, schedules, and budgets
- Prepare standard documents, such as technical specifications, under applicable design codes along with engineering reports and other technical documents
- Research and review design options for both technical and financial impact
- Liaise with other professionals, clients, and third parties as needed

On top of that, you will:
- Hold a Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a minimum of 4 years of related industry experience in Bridge Design/Construction and Project Management, or 8 years of equivalent combination of education and work experience in Engineering and/or Construction oversight
- Be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or can obtain within 12 months of employment
- Have great technical expertise in problem solving, demonstrated experience developing tasks in bridge, tunnel or marine design and construction, and working knowledge of modern bridge design codes
- Have prior experience as a site rep and have experience in site inspections, collaboration with contractors, field review reports, RFIs, NCRs and other QAQC related elements
- Have been Engineer of Record or their representative on BCMOTI (or Ministry-like) projects
