Job Description Lilly Canada is pleased to offer a 12-month internship in Medical Operations. This position is open to students who are interested in medical affairs and want to learn more about the pharmaceutical industry.

The purpose of the Medical Operations Intern role is to accelerate the Canadian Medical Affairs Team to enable the ‘Accelerate Reach and Scale’ strategic goals. The role will focus on the execution, data driven learning and impact measurement capabilities to close the gap in optimal clinical care.

Medical Affairs is a dynamic area where support needs may change and evolve.  The intern must therefore be adaptable and open to additional responsibilities not specifically outlined in the job description.

This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, advanced use of Excel and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments to complete tasks. Knowledge of regulatory submissions in Canada is an asset.

OBJECTIVES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Medical Operations Intern will assist the Medical Operations team by assisting with the following tasks related to document management, coordination of meetings, and general support for medical affairs.

Digital Capabilities

  • Develop and lead digital solutions to increase efficiency of medical operations tasks, and enable interactive reports within medical affairs
  • Create resources and playbooks using SharePoint
  • Develop interactive reports highlighting key insights summaries and perspectives related to medical operations and their role in supporting medical affairs strategic initiatives

Document Management and Approvals

  • Thought Leader Engagement Contracted Activity System Management: Assist in the annual submission and off-cycle updates of customer engagement plans for the Canadian organization
  • Veeva Quality Docs Document Archival: Assist in the post-event documentation of completed activities by medical affairs
  • Contract Management: Support the medical operations team to engage with external stakeholders to track and execute contracts related to medical research and consultancies.

Support for Medical Affairs

  • Provide support as needed to medical affairs colleagues to complete projects to execute on strategic initiatives.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Enrolled in University/ College program – ongoing and/or defined post-graduate internship as defined by academic program (Health Sciences (preferred), Business, Policy, or related discipline preferred).
  • You must be a student returning to full time studies in the fall or required to complete a co-op/internship in order to fulfill a program requirement.
  • Strong internal motivation, and a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work with cross -functional teams and build relationships
  • Can work well independently
  • Knowledge of regulatory submissions in Canada is an asset.
  • French language skills an asset
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint is an asset

Additional Information

  • Number of vacancies: 1
  • 12-month internship, starting: January 2026. Possibility of starting earlier (mid fall 2025)
  • This is a hybrid role – onsite presence at our Toronto office will be at least 10 days per month, determined in collaboration with your manager and based on business needs. You will be eligible to receive a per diem for each day you work on site.
  • Interns are eligible for paid vacation and sick days.
