About the role

Statement:

Are you seeking a rewarding opportunity to drive in the breathtaking community of Jasper? Join our team as a Transit Driver and be responsible for safely transporting passengers while providing superior customer service!

 

Role purpose:

Safely transport passengers while providing superior customer service and demonstrating strong communication skills, patience, maturity, and initiative. This is a contract position with the possibility to extend. This is a contract position until the end of summer with the possibility to extend into the fall.

 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Valid Class 1 or 2S driver’s license
  • Clear driver's abstract
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
  • Strong knowledge of the Jasper roadways
  • Physical ability to push/pull wheelchairs up and down a ramp or onto lift

  • Strong communication skills, patience, maturity, and initiative
  • Organized, punctual, and reliable
  • Calm, upbeat, and helpful manner
  • Excellent driving skills and habits

 

Key Accountabilities:  

Passenger Transportation

  • Transport passengers safely and according to established policy
  • Operate the shuttle vehicles in a safe manner in all-weather/road conditions
  • Provide information to and assist passengers in a courteous manner
  • Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving problems

 

Vehicle Operations and Maintenance

  • Conduct pre-and-post trip checks of vehicles prior to/after their use
  • Report vehicle maintenance issues

 

Communication and Reporting  

  • Maintain radio contact with base and use proper communications protocol
  • Report passenger emergencies and schedule concerns
  • Complete various forms of paperwork, as required
  • Assist with driver coverage by driving the shuttle bus

Hourly Rate: $28 to start, then $30 after 3 months’ probation
