About the role
Role Description We are looking for a Consultant – Privacy & Data Protection to work as an integral part of our service delivery team, serving clients across financial services, public sector, high technology, and other industry sectors. In this role, you will help clients assess, design, implement, and operationalize practical privacy and data protection programs. You will support a range of client initiatives, including privacy impact assessments, privacy risk assessments, privacy management program design, policy and procedure development, regulatory compliance support, and privacy-by-design advisory. The role is primarily focused on privacy and data protection. Experience or interest in adjacent areas such as AI governance, data governance, cybersecurity, and risk management will be considered a strong asset, particularly where these areas intersect with privacy obligations, emerging technologies, and responsible data use.
What You Will Be Doing You will be an integral part of our team, providing support on some or all of the following activities: Deliver privacy advisory services related to privacy laws, regulatory expectations, and recognized privacy frameworks. Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments, privacy risk assessments, and gap assessments for new and existing programs, technologies, vendors, systems, and business initiatives. Help clients identify, assess, and address privacy risks using practical, risk-based, and business-aligned recommendations. Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of privacy management programs, governance frameworks, and operating models. Contribute to the development of privacy risk registers, data protection action plans, remediation roadmaps, and governance reporting. Advise on privacy requirements across the data lifecycle, including collection, use, disclosure, retention, safeguarding, and secure disposal of personal information. Support clients in aligning privacy practices with frameworks and standards such as ISO/IEC 27701, GDPR, HIPAA, PIPEDA, and other applicable privacy legislation. Translate complex privacy, regulatory, and technical considerations into clear, actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences. Prepare reports, executive summaries, presentations, and working documents to communicate findings, risks, recommendations, and implementation progress. Support clients in responding to privacy inquiries, complaints, audits, or regulatory expectations.
What We Are Looking For Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in privacy, data protection, risk management, compliance, consulting, legal, information management, cybersecurity, or a related field. Demonstrated experience supporting privacy advisory or privacy program activities for mid-size to large organizations. Practical knowledge of privacy requirements, such as GDPR, HIPAA, PIPEDA, FOIPPA, or other privacy laws. Knowledge of one or more privacy or data protection frameworks, standards, or regulatory regimes, such as ISO/IEC 27701, GDPR, privacy management programs, or privacy-by-design principles. Experience conducting or supporting Privacy Impact Assessments, privacy risk assessments, data mapping, policy development, or privacy compliance reviews. Experience supporting clients in responding to OIPC (Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner) inquiries or complaints is a strong asset. Polished written and verbal communication skills. One or more designations in privacy or IT audit (e.g. CIPP/C, ISO27701 LI/LA, CISA) preferred Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant field, such as business, law, public policy, information management, accounting, MIS, technology, or a related discipline. Experience or interest in AI governance, data governance, cybersecurity, or risk management is considered an asset.
