Wage

  • $17.60 per hour

Job Description SOUTHLAND Transportation is seeking dedicated School Bus Monitors to join our team! School Bus Monitors assist the bus driver during the trip to and from school each day by supervising the activity of, and caring for, children with varying special needs. This may include loading, securing, and unloading children in wheelchairs. As a Bus Monitor, you will work a split shift, working approximately 1.5 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours in the afternoon. Routes typically fall between the hours of 6:00 am - 9:00 am and 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Work is during the school year with time off in July and August.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Patience in dealing with student disruptions
  • Physical ability to load, secure, and unload children in wheel chairs and car seats (training provided)
  • Experience in childcare considered an asset
  • Clear Criminal Record
  • Vulnerable sector check, upon hire (reimbursed by SOUTHLAND)
