Opportunity Sustainable Investing (SI) is focused on enhancing and protecting long-term stakeholder value by considering the impact of material sustainability and governance factors on investment risk and performance, alongside traditional financial and economic analysis. The implementation of sustainable investing varies by asset class, but our guiding philosophy remains the same: the consideration of sustainability and governance factors enables better informed investment decisions and supports long-term stakeholder value.

As the Co-op, Sustainable Investing, you will support AIMCo's SI program, which considers the sustainability and governance aspects of AIMCo's investments in alignment with client needs, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation and opportunity identification across the investment process. You will use your strong data skills to support data gathering, research and portfolio analysis, assist with the implementation of various data platforms, and contribute to stewardship activities like proxy voting. You can expect to gain experience in carbon footprinting, systems implementation, process automation, data analytics, reporting, as well as gaining exposure to due diligence and post-investment monitoring.

Note: This is a full-time term position starting in May 2026 through December 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation of various data platforms and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration
  • Implement testing and troubleshooting on data platforms to ensure reliability, accuracy and consistency
  • Support in the development and automation of processes to streamline data collection, processing, analysis and reporting
  • Contribute to the data gathering and calculation of carbon footprinting data across asset classes by leveraging new and existing data platforms
  • Conduct research to support sustainability assessments and stewardship activities
  • Participate in the due diligence process for potential investments across asset classes
  • Contribute to reporting activities for internal and external audiences

Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • In pursuit of a bachelor's or master’s degree in business, economics, environmental science, data science, or related discipline
  • Must be returning to full time academic studies in 2027, or completing their final work experience terms
  • Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, SQL, Python, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.) and Microsoft applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience in data mapping, automation and visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI) is considered an asset
  • Personal interest in sustainability
  • Knowledge of sustainability metrics and reporting standards (e.g., PCAF, TCFD, ISSB) is desirable.
  • Ability to recognize and define problems and opportunities and generate creative solutions with a fail-fast mindset
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills , with the ability to work collaboratively with others
