Director, Legal Entity (Canada) Reporting

What is the opportunity?
The Director, Legal Entity (Canada) Reporting is a key role within the Legal Entity (Canada) Reporting team, ensuring accurate and complete financial reporting for the Inter-group reconciliation process in Financial and Regulatory Reporting. It reports to the Senior Director, Legal Entity (Canada) Reporting, managing a team of 2 to 4 reports with a focus on Intragroup reconciliations. The successful candidate will work to ensure an effective control environment, establish best practices and while providing accounting advisory and support new initiatives. You will be part of a collaborative team culture that strives to challenge ourselves to be our best, think progressively, and work together to deliver collective results.
What you will do?
- Provide thought leadership to drive continuous improvement, challenge existing approaches and influence strategic direction across the Inter-group reconciliation process.
- Establish a target operating model, including standard operating procedures to support the understanding and documentation of Inter-group balance sheet and P&L breaks.
- Standardize the current Inter-group reconciliation process and identify opportunities for automation by partnering with relevant FSS and IT partners.
- Lead projects and act as a change agent, recommending improvements to internal processes and enhancing team efficiency
- Lead and develop a team of 2 to 4 professionals
- Accountable for annual internal / external audits where applicable.
- Lead and mentor the team, ensuring team’s professional development, skill enhancement and goal achievement.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Accounting designation – CPA, CGA, CMA
- 10+ years accounting and finance related experience
- Excellent accounting & finance capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to synthesize complex issues and recommend solutions
- Leadership skills
Nice to Have
- Excellent knowledge of RBC’s Financial Systems
- Excellent conflict and issue resolution ability
- Experience managing change and projects
