Salary Range: $112,338 - $131,420
Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

The Opportunity:
The Manager, Infrastructure Engineering oversees staff, general contractors, consultants and external
agencies involved in the planning and design stage of all projects administered directly by the District’s Public
Works division. Represents the District on projects administered by consultants as required. Maintains close
communication with utility companies, consulting engineers, area municipalities, and other levels of
government.
What you will do:
• Manage, review and approve Bridge, Culvert and Structural appraisals in compliance with District by-
laws, provincial and federal statutes, regulations and guidelines.
- Manage the design, preparation of plans, specifications and contract documents, tendering,
construction and administration of all horizontal and vertical infrastructure works and ensure
compliance with District by-laws, provincial and federal statutes, regulations and guidelines.
- Manage, review and approve the planning and design of capital water/wastewater, road and bridge
reconstruction and rehabilitation projects including the Port Carling Locks.
- Manage and collaborate with Area Municipalities on joint infrastructure projects as it relates to planning,
design and capital budgeting.

Manage environmental assessment processes including public consultation.

Oversee engineering support services such as asset management, infrastructure analysis, road and
bridge appraisals.
- Manage employees in a manner consistent with District values, policies and procedures, including
selection, work scheduling, training and performance evaluations.
- Ensure that employees work safely and in compliance with applicable statutes and regulations and with
the safe work procedures and directives as established by the District.

Review and approve plans, specifications and contract documents prepared by consultants.

Prepare and compile the capital budget and ten-year capital forecast for all road, structural, culvert
assets including the Port Carling Locks.
- Review and manage the timing and scope of Area Municipal and Water/Wastewater capital plans as
they relate to asset management needs to ensure coordinated delivery of joint infrastructure projects.

Participate in the resolution of contract disputes and claims.

Prepare reports to the Engineering & Public Works Committee and make presentations as required.

Perform related duties as assigned.
What you will need:
• Graduate of a university program in Civil Engineering (preference will be given to applicants with a focus
on structural engineering)

Member in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
-
Five (5) years directly related post-graduate experience, including a minimum of two (2) years’ experience
in a supervisory or management capacity
-
Thoroughly familiar with municipal engineering standards and practices
-
Working knowledge of computer assisted engineering methods and management information systems
-
Proven ability to accomplish performance objectives, demonstrated technological proficiency and well-
developed leadership, organization, written and oral communication skills.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license
