We're looking for a passionate Recreationist to join our Mississauga Adult Day Program- someone who can turn ordinary moments into meaningful experiences. In this role you'll design and lead engaging activities that support social connection, cognitive stimulation, and overall well being for out clients.

Acclaim Health announces the availability of a temporary Full Time Recreationist position to work at our Mississauga Adult Day Program for a period of three (3) months. This position requires the individual to work Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm
Pay: $25.60 - $27.20 per hour
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Approves client care plans and transitional notes
- Plans the staff’s daily recreation/ADL activities
- Assists the Supervisor with implementation of day to day operational tasks
- Under the direction of the Supervisor, ADCS implements quality initiatives aimed at correcting negative variances, addressing gaps, mitigating risks and promoting client safety
- Develops, implements and evaluates the Adult Day Program’s therapeutic recreation, social and music care activities based on individual needs
- Develops strategies with staff in the Adult Day Program when clients are exhibiting responsive behaviours
- Provides information and support to caregivers
- Handles the recruitment, orientation and development of student placements
- Ensures volunteer recognition and engagement, completion of annual reviews
- Assists clients with eating, toileting and mobility as required
- Participates effectively on internal and external committees
- Maintains accurate and confidential electronic documentation
- Purchases recreation supplies and equipment as necessary and monitors program supply budget
- Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

Diploma, Community College, Recreational Therapy or equivalent

Certification in Basic First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR
-
Valid Ontario “G” driver’s license, use of vehicle and insurance per Acclaim Health policy
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
-
Minimum 1 to 2 years in gerontology and working with cognitively impaired persons
-
Depth of knowledge related to Alzheimer Disease and other dementias
-
Strong verbal and written communication, assessment and interpersonal skills
-
Effective listening skills
-
Demonstrated leadership ability
-
Well-developed knowledge and skills in quality/risk management
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office
-
Excellent organizational skills
-
Proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
-
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively as a team member
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
