About the role
Are you interested in gaining hands on experience in water utilities? Are you an organized self-starter with strong communication and problem solving skills and enjoy working in a team environment? If so, our Development & Engineering Services Department wants you on their team!
As the successful candidate you will provide assistance to Certified Operators primarily in various wastewater collection systems, water treatment and distribution systems, as well as at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
You will:
• Assist with general operation and maintenance.
• Assist with required sampling, testing, monitoring and analysis of potable water supplies, wastewater influent and effluent, receiving waters and other environmental areas.
• Assist with general labour, site/yard maintenance and vessel cleaning.
• Perform field work as well as office/lab duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
To be eligible for this role, you will be currently enrolled and returning in the fall of 2025 to an Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Water Engineering Technology program. You will have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision and have demonstrated knowledge and skills in spreadsheets and database technology.
This full time, student position will commence in May 2026 and conclude in August 2026. The work shift will be Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm; but weekend work may be required from time to time. We offer a wage of $24.26 per hour plus 4% in lieu.
