Job Summary:
The Bids & Strategic Pursuits Proposal Writer plays an integral role in securing business opportunities by developing high-quality, compliant, and persuasive proposals tailored to both public and private sector clients. This role will blend strategic thinking with exceptional writing skills to manage the entire pursuit lifecycle, from opportunity identification to submission, ensuring proposals are tailored, competitive, and compelling.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and prioritize strategic pursuits, particularly within government and grant-funded sectors.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design compliant, client-focused solutions.
- Prepare persuasive proposals and presentations that align with client requirements and evaluation frameworks.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of client organizations, procurement processes, and market dynamics.
- Interpret and respond to complex RFPs and RFQs with precision and clarity.
- Ensure strict adherence to government regulations, submission guidelines, and evaluation criteria.
- Incorporate best practices for complex proposals by employing structured narratives, compliance matrices, and detailed cost justifications.
- Lead and coordinate with cross-functional teams throughout the proposal development process.
- Facilitate pursuit kick-off meetings, compliance reviews, and progress checkpoints to drive accountability.
- Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality submissions through effective management and oversight.
- Conduct research on industry trends, government funding programs, and competitor positioning to inform proposal strategies.
- Develop compelling value propositions that distinguish our services in competitive government markets.
- Manage all aspects of proposal development, including timelines, deliverables, and quality assurance processes.
- Oversee content creation, editing, and compliance checks, ensuring all submissions meet the highest standards.
- Maintain a library of reusable content and templates for enhanced efficiency and consistency across proposals.
- Track pursuit outcomes and maintain accurate records for comprehensive reporting.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership on pipeline progress and success metrics.
- Analyze win/loss data to refine strategies and improve future performance in the bidding process.
- Stay informed about federal, provincial, and municipal procurement policies and trends. Perform other related responsibilities assigned to support team objectives and business goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in proposal writing, particularly focused on government and grant-based proposals.
- APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) certification or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with proposal automation tools and content management systems.
- Exceptional business and technical writing skills, with the ability to draft persuasive, concise, and clear messages.
- Strong project management capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven success in managing complex, multi-stakeholder proposals under tight deadlines.
- Expert knowledge of government procurement processes, compliance requirements, and evaluation criteria.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with industry sectors in Eastern Canada and associated regulatory frameworks.
- Committed to upholding the company’s core values in all interactions. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is highly desirable.
