What You'll Be Doing As an integral member of CIBC’s Digital Strategy, Advice & Open Banking team and reporting to the Director, Product Management the Senior Product Owner, Investment Planning Platforms delivers impactful digital products by defining a clear product vision, prioritizing features, and ensuring alignment with business objectives across both agile and waterfall methodologies. As the central point of accountability, the Sr. Product Owned translates business requirements into actionable user stories or project specifications, manage product backlogs and roadmaps, and facilitate effective communication among stakeholders. By continuously analyzing product performance and gathering user feedback, the Senior Digital Product Owner drives ongoing improvement to enhance user experience and achieve strategic business outcomes.

  • Digital product delivery - Lead cross-functional teams to deliver digital products by defining the product vision, prioritizing features, and ensuring alignment with business objectives across both agile and waterfall methodologies. The Senior Digital Product Owner serves as the central point of accountability for product delivery, working closely with development, design, marketing, and business stakeholders. Establish a clear product vision and strategy, ensuring all team members understand the goals and that delivery approaches—whether agile or waterfall—are tailored to the specific needs of each project.
  • Translate business requirements - Transform business requirements into actionable user stories or detailed project specifications, serving as a critical link between stakeholders, development teams, and end-users. Gather and analyze input from a variety of sources, including customers, business leaders, and technical teams, to create detailed requirements. Break these requirements down into user stories for agile projects or comprehensive specifications for waterfall initiatives, ensuring clarity and shared understanding across all parties.
  • Product backlog and roadmap management - Manage product backlogs and roadmaps by balancing competing priorities and making data-driven decisions to maximize value delivery and achieve strategic goals. Maintain a well-groomed backlog, continuously prioritizing features and enhancements based on business value, customer needs, and technical feasibility. They also develop and communicate product roadmaps, adjusting plans as new data and feedback emerge.
  • Stakeholder management - Facilitates effective communication among stakeholders, ensuring transparency regarding project progress, risks, and changes, while adapting delivery approaches as needed. Serves as the primary point of contact for project updates, proactively sharing information about timelines, risks, and modifications. By fostering open communication, helps manage expectations and ensures that any issues are addressed promptly, adjusting processes to align with the chosen delivery methodology.
  • Process improvement - Drive continuous improvement by analyzing product performance, gathering user feedback, and iterating on solutions to enhance user experience and business outcomes. Actively review product metrics and user insights to identify opportunities for enhancement, foster a culture of learning and iteration, implementing changes that improve product quality, increase user satisfaction, and ensure alignment with business objectives.

Who You Are

  • You can demonstrate 2 to 5 years of work experience in a product owner role, maintaining and prioritizing product backlogs, developing roadmaps, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. It’s an asset to have CSPO / PSPO certifications.
  • You can demonstrate 2 to 5 years of work experience utilizing Agile and Waterfall methodologies with proficiency in both agile (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and traditional waterfall delivery models, with the ability to select and adapt approaches as needed. It’s an asset if you have financial and goal planning literacy.
  • You can demonstrate 1 to 3 years of work experience with competitive analysis and market trend identification to make informed product decisions and drive continuous improvement. It’s an asset if you have experience in Business Intelligence/Analytics tools (Tableau, Adobe Analytics)
  • You can demonstrate work experience in leading and guiding cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative environment, and driving accountability for results. It’s an asset if you have awareness of user experience and interface design principles
