Position

This role is responsible for supporting the operation and research & development process for the discovery and analysis of chemical and biological materials (e.g., protein sequencing) for the purpose of creating new business opportunities for Rapid Novor, advancing our capabilities as a contract research organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support routine operation tasks for protein sequencing and protein characterization services. Preparing customer samples according to SOPs, and analyze the data and generate report for customer samples.
  • Learn and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine LC-MS operations within the facility.
  • Acquire knowledge of maintenance and calibration protocols for mass spectrometry instruments and perform these tasks regularly.
  • Support and collaborate with scientists in instrument optimization and method development.
  • Carry out general lab upkeep, including organization and cleaning of mass spectrometry laboratories.
  • Assisting in developing new and improve existing procedures for sample preparation for LC-MS/MS analysis including protein characterization, target protein enrichment from serum sample and enzymatic digestion.
  • Work collaboratively with other R&D members in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
  • Must maintain good laboratory records.
  • Must abide by all applicable standard operating procedures.
  • Must abide by all applicable workplace environmental, health & safety protocols.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or related fields.
  • 0-3 years related work experience.
  • Background in mass spectrometry and proteomics.
  • Experience with mass spectrometry instrumentation and associated LC equipment.
  • Experience in method development and optimization for targeted proteomics.
  • Hands-on experience in protein sample preparation, digestion optimization, targeted enrichment for proteomics.
  • Experience with protein matrices software is a plus.
  • Experience in protein purification (HPLC), RP, SCX, HIC, immunoprecipitation, protein cross-linking, bioanalytical HPLC, antigen/antibody purification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good knowledge of:
    • Peptide or Protein LC-MS separation and data analysis.
    • LC-MS method development and method optimization.
    • Sample preparation in a proteomics context.
    • Peptide chemistry.
    • Nano and high flow rate LC-MS.
  • Ability to work under the supervision of the Manager and participate in multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
