Location: Montreal, QC (Hybrid flexibility after 3 months) Employment Type: Full Time Permanent Only candidates legally eligible to work in Canada without the need for visa sponsorship will be contacted About the Role We are hiring a Branch Financial Controller to join our client. This is a key role responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting for our Canadian banking branch. You will own month-end close activities, financial statements, and regulatory reporting while working closely with international finance teams across Montreal, New York, and Paris. This is a high-ownership role suited for a CPA-qualified professional who thrives in a structured, detail-oriented, and regulated financial environment. What You’ll Do Lead month-end and year-end close activities for the Canadian branch Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy Produce accurate and timely financial statements under IFRS Perform variance analysis (budget vs actuals) and explain financial movements Support regulatory reporting requirements (including OSFI where applicable) Ensure audit-ready financial documentation at all times Act as key point of contact for external auditors and tax authorities Maintain strong internal controls and accounting process documentation Collaborate with global finance teams to ensure reporting consistency What We’re Looking For CPA designation (or equivalent qualification) 5+ years of experience in accounting, controllership, or financial reporting Strong understanding of IFRS and financial statement preparation Experience working in month-end close or general ledger environments Exposure to audit processes or regulated financial environments Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines Fully bilingual (English/ French) Nice to Have Experience in banking, financial services, or insurance Exposure to OSFI or other regulatory reporting frameworks Experience working in multinational or cross-border finance teams Tax knowledge related to financial institutions
