The Yukon's Emergency Medical Services (YEMS) team delivers a wide scope of pre-hospital care. We deliver medical interventions, treatments, and critical care in every corner of the Yukon.
Leadership, dedication, and partnership guides our work. We enact these qualities from the moment we receive a call to the time when we transfer a patient at a health care facility.
Your role
This position supervises and provides leadership to Critical Care Paramedics and Critical Care Nurses while providing pre-hospital emergency and critical care in the Air Ambulance setting. This position serves as an operational supervisor and senior clinical practitioner in the management and coordination of safe, effective, and efficient clinical Air Ambulance service delivery. This position works collaboratively with other Superintendents based on rotating schedules

- Current registration within Canada as a Paramedic. (ACP or CCP)
- Significant Experience providing pre-hospital medical care as a Paramedic. (ACP, or CCP)
- Recent experience in a supervisory/managerial role including direct leadership of teams in a healthcare setting

Desired knowledge, skills and suitability
If selected for an interview, candidates should have, and may be assessed on, the following:

Experience developing policies, procedures, and protocols

Experience liaising with agencies to provide prehospital medical care.

Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills

Effective oral and written communication skills

Ability to provide leadership, coaching and training to members of the team

Excellent critical thinking, relationship building and conflict management skills.

Strong understanding of working with various cultural backgrounds

Conditions of employment
You must meet the following conditions before being hired, or within the time frame noted.
TB Screening, security clearance including vulnerable sector check, valid Yukon class 4 driver's licence, maintaining current ACP or CCP

Shift work, including weekends and standby, wearing a uniform and maintaining all conditions of employment.
