Salary: The salary range for this position is CAD $25.26/Hr. - CAD $25.26/Hr.
Summary:
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the position promotes a safe environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.
Reporting to the Leader, Distribution Services or Supervisor, Laundry & Linen this position provides laundry services by performing duties such as:
- Collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, weighing, and distributing laundry and/or linens.
- Performs alterations and repairs on garments and furnishings by operating a sewing machine.
What You Bring:
Education:
- Grade 10 plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to organize work.

Your Day to Day:
- Collects, weighs, sorts and records soiled linen and laundry. Delivers soiled laundry to laundry room.
- Loads and unloads washers and dryers, selects wash cycles, sets temperature and switches machine on and off.
- Folds, sorts, and irons dry laundry.
- Transfers clean linen from clean linen carts to hospital carts according to determined quantities and quotas.
- Distributes clean linen and laundry to user areas.
- Perform alterations and repairs, on clothing and furnishings such as curtains and drapes by operating a sewing machine.
- Prints clothing labels and attaches to personal laundry items.
- Cleans and maintains related equipment and designated areas.
- Checks machines regularly to ensure safe and effective functioning and notifies supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
- Maintains linen and laundry supplies such as mops, tea towels, and clean-up rags for deliver to various areas, by requisitioning supplies, restocking, folding, and packing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
