Description Join a team where safety, collaboration, and innovation come first. Located out of our Fort McMurray office, the Operations Technician, Electrical will report to the Operations Supervisor in Fort McMurray. As an Operations Technician, Electrical, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and improving electrical and instrumentation systems that keep our pipeline and pumping facilities running smoothly. You’ll work closely with a small, dedicated team and partner with multiple departments to share insights and drive improvements and efficiencies. Key Activities And Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical power, control equipment, SCADA systems, flow computers, PLC systems and 5kv switching/troubleshooting.
  • Maintenance and repair of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s) and Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), heat trace, electric actuated valve’s and associated equipment
  • Coordinate annual electrical inspections with electrical inspection authority and manage deficiencies
  • Assist with high voltage maintenance
  • Lockout-tagout of electrical equipment for energy isolation
  • Conduct operational activities such as meter proving, pigging, sampling, product quality assurance and monthly cutoff
  • Perform routine inspections of station sites and mainline block valves
  • Provide support to engineering for projects as well as participate in safety and operations meetings
  • Support a 24-hour on-call rotation, including weekends
  • Supervise contractors and ensure that safe practices and procedures are adhered to

Education, Skills And Experience

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification is required
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates possessing a dual Electrical/Instrumentation ticket with experience working with medium voltage equipment.
  • 5+ years related electrical and instrumentation experience is required
  • Solid experience with medium voltage, 5kv troubleshooting and or instrumentation experience
  • Computer proficiency along with excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills are strong assets
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license
  • Previous operational experience is beneficial
  • Applicant must be willing to learn and perform operational duties
  • Current H2S Alive, WHMIS and First Aid certification are also an asset

Hours

  • Full-time permanent, 4x10 hours shifts (Tuesday-Friday)
  • The successful candidate is required to live in the Fort McMurray region.
