Position Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor is an essential leader at the Moncton facility, accountable for overseeing all aspects of asset and equipment reliability, maintaining utility services, and ensuring building infrastructure performance. This role delivers both strategic and tactical value—partnering with the Plant Manager and Management Team to drive world-class maintenance practices that support productivity, safety, compliance, sustainability, and organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Asset Management: (10%)
- Develop and champion a holistic asset management strategy, aligned to organizational objectives and the plant’s long-term success.
- Implement and continuously improve the plant’s Strategic Asset Management Plan and Asset Management Program, including asset acquisition, maintenance, and replacement strategies.
Maintenance Operations: (25%)
- Oversee all maintenance activities, including preventive, predictive, prescriptive, and corrective maintenance for production equipment and utility services.
- Implement, optimize, and manage the computerized maintenance management system (Maximo), ensuring accurate asset tracking, work order management, and performance analytics.
- Minimize equipment downtime and maximize production throughput by rigorous planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance tasks.
Continuous Improvement & Project Leadership: (10%)
- Lead initiatives to drive productivity, cost reduction, and process improvement, leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and reliability engineering principles.
- Provide expertise and leadership in the initiation, development, and installation of capital investments and technical upgrades.
Safety, Regulatory, & Compliance: (10%)
- Champion associate safety by ensuring strict compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), food safety standards, and the facility’s Lockout/Tagout/Tryout (LOTO-TO) protocols.
- Conduct frequent safety audits, risk assessments, and enforce corrective actions as needed. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations (CFIA, GMP, HACCP).
Financial Management: (10%)
- Create, oversee, and optimize the maintenance budget, including capital planning and GL-level cost control.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through effective asset management, vendor negotiations, and process optimization.
Inventory Management: (5%)
- Develop and oversee robust inventory control systems, ensuring sufficient spare parts availability while balancing cost and carrying levels.
Team Leadership & Capability Building: (20%)
- Lead, develop, and engage a diverse team of 15 associates, including 13 unionized and 2 salaried staff.
- Build a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and ownership by delivering impactful onboarding, ongoing technical skills development, and performance management.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and accountability to drive high standards and results.
Operational Excellence & Reporting: (5%)
- Establish and monitor critical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for asset performance, reliability, safety, and budget utilization.
- Regularly report findings, recommendations, and insights to senior management, supporting data-driven decision making.
Stakeholder Collaboration: (5%)
- Effectively manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, vendors, regulators, and cross-functional teams—driving alignment and delivering results.
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related technical field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum 8–10 years in maintenance, asset management, or reliability roles within fast-paced manufacturing; food industry experience and proven leadership performance required.
- Advanced troubleshooting of production equipment and utilities, including PLCs; expertise in CMMS/Maximo; strong understanding of reliability engineering, asset life cycle management, and maintenance best practices.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), CMRP, MMP or CAMA preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Excel, Outlook; competency in reporting and analytics
- GMP, HACCP, CFIA, and safety standards
