About the role
We are seeking an Apprentice Mechanic to work alongside the Commercial Transport Red Seal Mechanics, supporting the regular maintenance of a motor coach and shuttle bus fleet. The Apprentice Mechanic is an integral part of the team and an enabler of success as we safely move people to their destinations.
Key Responsibilities Working alongside Commercial Transport Red Seal Mechanics, the primary responsibilities of the Apprentice Mechanic are to:
- Assist with diagnosing and addressing issues with motor coaches and buses
- Perform minor repairs and conduct routine maintenance and servicing on fleet
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by ensuring proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment
- Complete other duties as assigned
About You You are a motivated, self driven, safety-oriented individual who enjoys learning and wants to launch your career as a mechanic in the passenger transportation sector. You take pride in your work and the knowledge that you are working for an organization with a culture of safety and service excellence. Your critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem solving, and attention to detail will contribute to your success as an Apprentice Mechanic.
Your Qualifications & Experience
- Completion of heavy-duty mechanic foundations course required
- Working knowledge of tools, techniques, and terminology associated with the mechanics' trade
- Working knowledge of the accident and safety precautions of the trade
- Experience working with motor coaches or buses (preferred)
- Currently apprenticing in the field, or has an interest in apprenticing (asset)
- Excellent teamwork skills- able to work collaboratively and communicate with peers and supervisors
- Highly motivated and eager to learn
