About the Role
The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for handling CAA Niagara’s bills and managing accounts payable for multiple lines of business. Tasks include receiving, opening, and logging invoices on the ledger, as well as other duties like bank reconciliation, accounts payable invoice and data entry, and expense report handling.
The expected salary range for this role is $43,000.00–$55,000.00. Placement within this range will be determined based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and verify expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records
- Support the facilitation of payment of vendors, which may include verification of EFT details, review of purchase orders/invoices, and resolving of discrepancies
- Assist with accounting records and ledgers by reconciling monthly statements and transactions
- Record entry of, verifies documentation for, and distributes petty cash
- Calculate and report sales tax based on paid invoices
- Prepare accounts payable invoices
- Handle payments in an organized and timely manner
- Prepare and maintain Excel spreadsheets
- Perform internal credit card reconciliation when required
- Assist with audit support as necessary
- Assist in streamlining the accounts payable process
- Work with the rest of the accounting team to resolve account issues when necessary
Qualifications & Skills
- Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs
- Must be able to learn different systems and accounting software systems
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Education & Experience
- Post Secondary Education in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Previous work experience in accounting, bookkeeping or related field considered an asset
- Excellent knowledge of basic accounting concepts
- Strong knowledge and direct use of Microsoft programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Working Conditions
- Primarily on-site at our Thorold, ON office, with regular collaboration across teams.
- Standard office environment with frequent computer use and digital systems.
- Occasional work outside regular business hours may be required to meet operational or business needs.
