We are looking for a Stop the Violence Outreach Coordinator to join our stopping the Violence/Trauma Counselling team.

Description of Position:
Reporting to: Manager of Trauma Counselling
General Responsibilities:
The Stop the Violence Outreach Coordinator is a temporary position under the current Stopping the Violence contract for Surrey (Cloverdale, Newton, South Surrey). The Coordinator will assist women with short-term crisis support and system navigation as well as delivering public education initiatives to raise awareness of the effects of violence against women.
**Program-specific Responsibilities:**Intake and Assessment:
- Attend to women who present in crisis and need assistance with risk identification and safety planning
- Complete individualized risk assessments and safety plans
- Maintain current knowledge of issues related to violence against women
- Attend team clinical meetings as scheduled
Information and Referral:
- Bridge clients to other services within and external to Sources
- Liaise with other professionals in the field with a primary focus on the Trauma Counselling team
Community Engagement:
- Respond to requests from community or other professionals for information about violence against women
- Conduct community presentations
Administration:
- Maintain client files
- Adhere to best practices and all applicable legislation

- Lifting/Pulling - 0%, Walking/Moving Around - 25%, Sitting - 50%, Time Spent Outside - 50%
Cognitive Demands of Job:

Qualifications:
- Diploma in related human /social service or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Minimum of one-year experience in providing services to women who have experienced violence.
- Understanding of and an ability to practice from a trauma informed, trauma responsive and culturally safe perspective.
- Knowledgeable in Best Practices for stopping the violence counselling programs (EVA BC).
- Knowledge of the impact of poverty, discrimination and other adversities on women.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on communicating with vulnerable populations (individually and in groups).
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant community resources, programs, and services.
- Strong networking skills as well as verbal & written communication skills including the ability to present information to multi-cultural groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.
- Intermediate to advanced level user of MS Office.
- 2nd language (Arabic, Mandarin, Punjabi, Spanish, Ukrainian) fluency an asset.
- A clear Criminal Record Check.
