About the role
The Smurfit Westrock Mississauga facility is looking for a Rewind Operator to work with the Bindery team. This position is reported to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for the daily operations of the rewinder. This includes make-readies, operating the Rewinder safely and keeping the area orderly. This position is steady afternoon shift.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with all safety policies.
- Obtain and understand production docket according to production schedule.
- Place press roll onto unwind shaft.
- Set up slitter as per job requirements.
- Align your bare finish cores.
- Make up cartons and labels / skid tags for the order.
- Place finished rolls (small) into cartons as per customer specs.
- Place large rolls onto finished skids as customer specs.
- Comply to all SOP’s and Quality Procedures
- Perform all related duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- Experience as a Rewind Operator preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk 100% of shift on a concrete floor and ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to maintain good attendance.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
Shift Schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 3:00PM to 10:30 PM
- Friday: 12:30 PM to 530 PM
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
